Special exhibition 24 February 2023 – 7 May 2023
With the exhibition "World's Best Communication Design 2022 and Highlights from NRW", the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen is showing works from the field of communication design from more than 30 countries. From books to commercials and posters to apps, websites and packaging, visitors to the exhibition will experience the various facets of outstanding communication design. All of the works presented in the exhibition have won awards at the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design 2022.
The special exhibition presents a selection of the award-winning brands and projects. The focus of the special exhibition, which is on view until 30 April 2023 and presents an overview of state-of-the-art international communication design, is on the almost 70 best works of the competition year 2022, including such diverse works as Closed Eyes, a kind of digital memorial platform for victims of the war being waged by Russia against Ukraine, Revive Renault, the relaunch of Renault's brand image or the exhibition design of the Tsubame-Sanjo Factory Museum in Japan.
Presentation of the Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2022
A highlight of the exhibition will certainly be the presentation of the Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2022, the MetaDesign agency. MetaDesign is now considered one of the leading agencies for creative brand consulting and works for clients such as Porsche, Volkswagen, Henkel and Deutsche Telekom. This year, MetaDesign was awarded a Red Dot: Best of the Best for the brand relaunch of the AOK, among others.
MYRIAD - an immersive virtual reality experience (until April 2nd)
Last year, the competition jury awarded a Red Dot: Best of the Best to the VR installation MYRIAD by Berlin-based Interactive Media Foundation / Filmtank, which visitors can experience at the museum through April 2. The work impressively depicts the globe-spanning migrations of various animals and enables the audience to virtually accompany the animals on their journey. The VR experience aims to sensitize young people to the topic of animal migration in particular and to the relationship between humans and nature in general. Emotions are the key to conveying scientifically sound information. The design is by Berlin-based studios Artificial Rome and Miiqo Studios.
At the Red Dot Design Museum, visitors will have the opportunity to travel part of the way with the animals themselves using VR glasses on all opening days at 12 noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. from February 24 to April 2, 2023. School classes and other groups: Please make an appointment.
