On Sunday, 9 March 2014, friends of well-shaped creations and all those, who want to become it, go on a journey of discovery in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen. From 3–4.30 p.m., the public tour of the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design informs about current trends, product culture and the fascinating architecture of the house.

The one hour and a half tour of the former boiler house of Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex allows for interesting insights into the world of innovative and sophisticated designs. Thereby, visitors learn about latest trends in the various fields of international product design, about cultural and country-specific characteristics and how design has changed over the years.

Chic lifestyle accessories, innovative kitchen helpers or shapely lamps – about 2,000 exhibits from 45 nations impart the outstanding quality of design. Since good design becomes especially apparent in use, touching and testing is important and particularly allowed. Excellently designed products help for example to make life easier, to make our working environment safer and to spend our time in a more comfortable way. The participants of the public tour will gain a new consciousness of design and will see their surrounding through different eyes.
