Posters from 60 years of design history

In its more than 60 years of history, numerous designers had a formative influence on the visual appearance of the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen. This becomes apparent when looking at a selection of exhibition posters which are on show in the Red Dot Design Museum’s staircase. Graphic designer Klaus Winterhager from Wuppertal created posters for the design exhibition in the 1970s and 1980s. Subsequently, photographer Hans Hansen from Hamburg and poster designer Uwe Loesch from Düsseldorf influenced the institution’s corporate design, too: Hans Hansen photographed the “Formzitat des Jahres” (‘design quote of the year’) for Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen from 1993 to 2003, using one of the award-winning products from the competition. These photos formed, among others, the basis for the exhibition posters, which Uwe Loesch regularly designs ever since 1992. Moreover, posters by likewise renowned designers such as Stephan Bundi, Remo Caminada, Nicolaus Ott and Bernard Stein as well as by Hesse Design, Haase & Knels and Lockstoff Design are exhibited.
