On Sunday, 9 September 2018, design fans and all those, who want to become it, go on a journey of discovery in the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary product design. From 3–4:30 p.m., the public guided tour of the Red Dot Design Museum Essen informs about latest industrial design, product culture and the fascinating architecture of the house.
The one hour and a half tour of the former boiler house of Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex allows for interesting insights into the world of well-shaped and sophisticated designs. Chic lifestyle accessories, innovative kitchen helpers or well-shaped luminaires – around 2,000 exhibits from 45 nations convey the excellent quality of good design. Touching and testing is important and explicitly allowed since good design becomes especially apparent in use. Well-designed products make, among others, life easier, working safer or leisure time more comfortable. The participants of the guided tour will get a new understanding of design and observe their environment in a different way.
