On Sunday, 16 August 2015 young and grown-up visitors go on a journey of discovery. The guided tour for families informs them about current trends, product culture and the historic architecture of the house from 3–4:30 p.m.
The one and a half hour tour of the former boiler house of Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex allows for interesting insights into the world of well-shaped and sophisticated designs. The visitors learn about latest trends in the various fields of international product design, about cultural and country-specific characteristics and how design has changed over the years.
Stylish lifestyle accessories, innovative consumer electronics or shapely furniture – about 2,000 exhibits from 45 nations impart the outstanding quality of design. Since good design becomes especially apparent in use, touching and testing is important and particularly allowed. Excellently designed products help for example to make life easier, to make our working environment safer and to spend our time in a more comfortable way. The participants of the guided tour for families will gain a new consciousness of design and will see their surrounding through different eyes.
