Good design becomes especially apparent in use. That is why touching and testing many of the exhibits is explicitly allowed in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen. A guided tour for families starts on Sunday, 13 September 2015, at 3 p.m. During the one and a half hour long walkthrough, visitors will learn about the characteristics of good design.
Which trends are the latest? And which cultural and country-specific characteristics can be discovered? On 4,000 square meters both young and grown-up visitors can experience the complete range of modern and innovative product designs: from elaborate gadgets to stylish household items to exceptional furniture.
A special highlight is the “Design Experience Exhibition”. It calls visitors upon to get surprised and to experience materials and forms from a new point of view, thus wanting them to acquire a multidimensional understanding of the basics of design. With their hands only, they will touch everyday objects and realise that good design is much more than only a beautiful appearance. It becomes apparent in use – in the haptic and sensual experience.
