From Australia to the Netherlands to Vietnam – products from around the world are a guest of the Red Dot Design Museum Essen on the grounds of the Zollverein World Heritage Site in Essen, Germany, from 10 July 2018.
On show are objects from various fields of everyday life, which received a distinction for their design excellence in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018, among these are furniture and lamps, sports equipment and bicycles, toys and baby equipment, vehicles, robots and drones - and of course many products form the fields of computers, smartphones, entertainment technology. In order to assure themselves of the objects’ excellent quality, visitors are invited to touch and test many of them.
The best designs, which were granted the highest award in the competition, the Red Dot: Best of the Best, are exhibited in a separate area: the 69 outstanding products of the year are on show in the White Hall and White Box on the ground floor of the former boiler house.
Moreover, visitors can look forward to the special exhibition of the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2018, which presents its design achievements in a self-designed and self-realised exhibition in the Red Dot Design Museum.
A public guided tour grants deeper insight into the latest trends on Sunday, 15 July 2018 (in German language).

A small space of the museum is closed until 5 December due to construction work for a new special exhibition. It will be re-opened on 6 December showing the exhibition “Design in the Age of Big Data".
