Design on Stage – Winners Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017

Special exhibition
04 July 2017
until 06 August 2017

Every year in Essen since as far back as 1955, products that convince a jury through their good design are recognised with awards. Thanks to the experience and continuity in the evaluation of design, the works that win a prize in the Red Dot Award provide a global picture of current aesthetic and economic trends in industrial design.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 saw manufacturers and designers from 54 countries submit their current innovations. Only products with a design quality that won over the 39 international experts of the jury received the sought-after Red Dot. The Red Dot Design Museum Essen showcases the best products of the year with the special exhibition “Design on Stage”.

Objects from 47 categories of product design are on display. They demonstrate the state of the art and illustrate how designers and manufacturers shape people’s everyday life through high quality and innovative power. For example, robots are one of the most significant trends right now. They are already well established in industry, and now they are conquering further living environments.

Moreover, visitors can look forward to the special exhibition of the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2017: “Design that talks”. The Canyon Design Team presents its design achievements in this self-designed and realised exhibition in the Red Dot Design Museum.
