In order to acquaint children with the topic of design, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen offers exciting experience tours for them during the Easter holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia. Under the motto “Design at the fingertips”, kids from eight to ten years go on a journey of discovery in the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design on Tuesday, 22 March 2016. On Wednesday, 23 March 2016, during their round tour of the exhibition, children from six to seven years are provided with insights into the secrets of material studies. The experience tours contribute to a better understanding of the quality of good design and foster the children’s creative talent and curiosity about their environment. Registration is requested. Participation: 10 €.

“Design at the fingertips: Material studies in the Red Dot Design Museum”
On Tuesday, 22 March 2016 from 3–4.30 p.m., the Red Dot Design Museum Essen invites kids from eight to ten years to join a tour of a special kind. Under the motto “Design at the fingertips”, the kids will discover industrial materials. They are decisive regarding the fact that an item feels good, whether it is cold or warm, whether it is experienced as smooth or rough. In playful exercises, the children feel, listen to and learn about the characteristics of various materials and are being let into the secrets of material studies.

“The ABC in design: Discovery tour in the Red Dot Design Museum”
On Wednesday, 23 March 2016 from 3–4.30 p.m., the Red Dot Design Museum Essen offers an exciting tour for children from six to seven years. Under the motto “The ABC in design”, tomorrow’s creative minds will go on a journey of discovery in the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design. Playful exercises facilitate them with a special observing technique, thus training their perception by “stretching” their imagination. This way, they learn to really see the things they look at – such as the hammer, which is shaped like the letter “T”.
